Two of Scott Pruitt's top aides resign amid EPA scrutiny

Two of Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt's closest aides at the agency resigned on Wednesday, an EPA official confirms to CNN. It came two days after Democratic lawmakers made public her testimony to a House oversight panel that Pruitt had her do personal errands for him, including inquiring about buying a used mattress from the Trump International Hotel. And Pruitt's efforts to dismantle the EPA fit neatly into President Trump's campaign vow to "blow up" federal bureaucracies. "Somebody has to say that about you a little bit, you know that, Scott". "Administrator Pruitt directly, and admittedly, used EPA resources to attempt to secure a job for his wife".

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said Wednesday that Pruitt "has to be very careful" in order for people to trust him to "do the job without influence, one way or the other". "Thank you very much, Scott".

Meanwhile, Pruitt is caught up in a string of ethics controversies, Politico noted.

The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, or PEER, filed a Freedom of Information Act Request to the EPA, which seeks the release of studies and documents that support EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt's claim that human activity is not the largest factor causing global climate change. Federal employees are subject to specific rules created to prevent officials from using their office for personal gain or taking advantage of subordinates.

Pruitt's statement called Hupp "a valued member of the EPA team".

Nirav Modi fraud cost Rs 14357 crore, says PNB
Rs 7579 crore in gross NPA addition was due to the Nirav Modi fraud; Rs 10,237 crore was due to RBI's new stressed asset circular. India's Punjab National Bank (PNB) is all set to announce its fourth quarter results today.

The House Interior-EPA spending package would give the OIG just over $50 million in funding, roughly the same as it's been given for 2018.

Their resignations leave Pruitt increasingly isolated at the EPA, where he has lost the confidence of most of the agency's career staff and many conservative political appointees who feel that Pruitt's ethical lapses have done a disservice to the President's agenda. Three other senior Pruitt staffers resigned earlier this spring.

On Wednesday, the EPA announced the resignation of Pruitt scheduler Millan Hupp.

He also says his wife is an entrepreneur, as if somehow that makes breaking the law OK. He adds that the country needs more Chick-fil-As and laughs. In addition to the incidents cited in the Democrats' letter, Pruitt also reportedly had members of his around-the-clock security detail run errands for him, including picking up his dry cleaning and looking for moisturizing lotion offered in Ritz-Carlton hotels, according to the Washington Post.
