First lady to announce initiatives on children's well-being

For months, a persistent rumor has floated around Washington that Melania doesn't really live in the White House and stays in a house with her parents and Barron near his suburban Washington school.

As the White House Press Secretary held her briefing with reporters, Melania Trump was preparing a speech to formally announce her policy platform as First Lady.

The first lady's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, says the focus will be on the overall well-being of children, which Mrs. Trump has spoken about since becoming first lady.

"Mrs. Trump wishes to help the next generation by creating change through awareness on a variety of issues that affect children", she said. Former first lady Michelle Obama made efforts toward improving child education, poverty and nutrition.

Mrs. Trump's announcement also came as her husband remains under intense legal pressure from a special counsel's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and is facing questions over $130,000 in hush money paid by one of his attorneys to a porn actress who says she had sex with Trump in 2006.

She has also spoken to children about dealing with negativity and self-esteem when she visited schools like a middle school in MI last October. The First Lady responded to that criticism during an appearance with tech leaders in March. He added, "your compassion for our nation's children inspires us all". Trump confessed for the first time her aim to move forward with the topic, regardless of what could possibly be viewed as hypocrisy.

"I am well aware that people are skeptical of me discussing this topic", Trump said.

As recently as the past month, the first lady hosted a more compact group of 1-2 kids in the WhiteHouse for an hearing session regarding the emotional issues they face in their own lives, either in home and in faculty.

"This is something that is extremely important to the first lady", Sanders replies. "I have been criticized for my commitment to tackling this issue and I know that will continue, but it will not stop me from doing what I know is right".
