US Preparing New Sanctions on Russia over Syria, Haley Says

United States' Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Sunday the Trump administration will announce more sanctions against Russian Federation on Monday.

"They will go directly to any sort of companies that were dealing with equipment related to Assad and chemical-weapons use", Haley said.

"I think it is impossible to say at this point that the mission has been accomplished", he said on CNN's "State of the Union". "I knew they would seize on this but felt it is such a great Military term, it should be brought back".

The United States, Britain and France launched airstrikes Friday night against Syrian research, storage and military sites after the Assad regime was blamed for a chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians.

Her predecessor, David Cameron, lost a vote on air strikes against Assad's forces in 2013, with many in Britain wary of entering another conflict, especially after an inquiry concluded that then-prime minister Tony Blair's decision to join the 2003 US -led war against Iraq was based on flawed intelligence.

Russian Federation doesn't have "very good friends".

British foreign minister Boris Johnson on Sunday said the Syrian war must be allowed to "proceed as it will", after unprecedented Western strikes against the country's alleged chemical weapons facilities.

It said no deaths from mechanical injuries were visible and all symptoms were characteristic of a chemical weapons attack, particularly choking agents and organophosphorus agents or hydrocyanic acid.

"Let me be absolutely clear: we have acted because it is in our national interest to do so". "This was not muscle flexing. Chemical weapons have been prohibited for decades and we must enforce this prohibition". "Our job was never to start a war".

"We're not going to leave until we know we've accomplished those things", she said. They said the only forces with military aircraft such as helicopters in Syria belong to Assad's government.

"There is broad based global support for the action we have taken", she will say.

Pentagon officials on Saturday said they "assessed" that there were probably both chemical and nerve agents in the targets USA forces hit with missile strikes, but added that they had "successfully mitigated" against this in the way they attacked them.

If you just give me a few seconds just to tell President Trump once again, please, sir, what you did was unbelievable, what you did was powerful message of hope for a lot of people inside and outside of Syria.

The air strikes came just hours after 88 members of Congress - 72 Democrats and 16 Republicans - urged Trump to consult Congress before taking military action. "President Trump is not a king".

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, said any further escalation of the conflict should require clear approval from Congress. "We need to defeat ISIS".

Theresa May will pre-empt planned opposition motions by applying to the Speaker for a debate herself "to give the House an extended opportunity to discuss the military action". "It should be taken as part of a strategy".

Third, Trump's strikes were limited, and for now have not provoked a broader conflict with Assad's backers in Syria, Russia, and Iran.

Russian Federation and Iran have called the strikes a "military crime" and "act of aggression".

US air strikes on Syria were in the "vital national security and foreign policy interests" of the United States and were meant to prevent future chemical weapons attacks by the Assad regime, President Trump told Congress on Sunday.
