PFA announces Player of the Year nominees

Belgium worldwide De Bruyne has played a pivotal role in Manchester City's march towards their third Premier League title, with Pep Guardiola's side 13 points clear going into this weekend's fixtures.

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has been given the nod after yet another fantastic season in betwen the posts at Old Trafford.

Their brilliance in City's outstanding Premier League campaign to date has been recognised by their peers, with Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea making up the six-man shortlist for the award.

The victor will be announced at the PFA's annual awards ceremony in London on Sunday, 22 April.

International Egyptian player Mohamed Salah aspires to be the second Arabic and African player to win the Premier League Player of the year after Algerian Riyad Mahrez won it in the 2015/2016 season.

The list of nominees for PFA Young Player of the Year has also been announced, and there is a slight crossover with the fact that Kane and Sane have also been shortlisted for this award.

Sterling, 23, is joint-fourth in the Premier League's scoring charts behind Salah, Kane and Sergio Aguero with 16 goals, and has also added eight assists. Sessegnon becomes the first player from outside the top flight to be nominated for the prize.
