Amir Khan stuns Phil Lo Greco with blistering first-round knockout

After five years a way from fighting in the United Kingdom, and almost two years since his last fight against Canelo Alvarez, it only took 36 seconds for Amir Khan to knock out Phil Lo Greco.

Amir Khan has destroyed (32-4, 20 KOs) his opponent Phil Lo Greco (28-4, 15 KOs) in less than a minute.

Khan stated that he is a 147lb fighter and is not a 154lb fighter, which immediately puts a potential clash with Kell Brook but in same breath states that he is chasing Kell Brook. "This fight should have happened 12 months ago, two years ago, we've still got time".

Lo Greco appeared stunned by Khan's sheer speed from the outset and as soon as he dropped him with a right hand, it looked like a foregone conclusion.

"You look at these great fighters like [Anthony] Joshua cleaning up, doing really well, knocking guys out, selling out stadiums and I´m like, ´Wow, this is where I want to be again´", Khan told a press conference earlier this week. I saw I hurt him with the left hook and it was over.

"King Khan" ended an absence of nearly two years with a swift stoppage of Lo Greco, with Brook watching from ringside, and the long-term foes were brought together in the post-fight interview.

"People wanted to see me come back and I wanted to prove a point".

Amir Khan is looking forward to riding the wave of interest in British boxing generated by the likes of world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua when he fights in the United Kingdom for the first time in five years.

"The weight is an issue with Kell [Brook]". I'm not going to say he's a bad fighter, he's a very good fighter, and he won a world title, so you have to respect that. I feel that my body is peaking and the gameplan that Joe is working on with me has come together.

"I want to thank all the fans for turning out and enjoying my victory".

Promoter Hearn remains hopeful of staging the elusive fight between Khan and Brook, and wants them to be reunited around the negotiating table.
