White House: 'No changes' planned with McMaster

Donald Trump has chose to sack National Security Advisor H R McMaster after complaining that his intelligence briefings are too long, according to reports.

McMaster, a three-star general, has had many public disagreements with the president, particularly over Iran and Russian Federation.

Trump has chose to fire McMaster, appointed in February previous year, but at the same time, is prepared to wait until he finds a good replacement, The Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

On Tuesday, Trump fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and told reporters at the White House he was near having his ideal team.

"It all depends on President Trump's volatile mood and available, willing replacements", according to the report. The president recently told an ally that he was still frustrated by an interview that Kelly gave to Fox News almost two months ago in which he suggested that Trump had "evolved" in his thinking about the need for a wall on the Mexican border. "I want to also see different ideas".

The Post report painted a picture of turmoil in the White House based on 19 anonymous interviews with presidential advisers and administration officials.

Kelly also reassured his staff, telling them "I'm in", the Journal reports.

McMaster is not the only senior official on thin ice with the president. When McMaster arrived, he studied how previous national security advisers had operated and how President Dwight Eisenhower had envisioned the role of the NSC director when he created the White House council.

In recent weeks, McMaster played a central role in responding to messages from South Korea about North Korea's willingness to meet with USA officials.

According to the sources, others considered at risk for being fired or reprimanded include Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, who has generated bad headlines for ordering a $31,000 dining room set for his office; Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt, who has been under fire for his first-class travel at taxpayer expense; and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, whose agency spent $139,000 to renovate his office doors.

It has been speculated that his end game is to get rid of Attorney General Jeff Sessions so he can fire Robert Mueller, the former FBI director investigating Russian links to Trump's campaign. Many rumors about possible firings are fueled by Trump himself, they said, because he complains to aides and friends about other staff members or muses about who might make good replacements.

Since the beginning of President Trump's time in office, to even before during his campaign, Trump has had his fair share of position openings.
