Unsurprisingly, students are disappointed with Betsy Devos' visit to Parkland

Stoneman Douglas High School students and the Parkland, Florida, community have been through a lot over the last month after a Valentine's Day school shooting there left 17 people dead. Wade, who plays for the local Miami Heat, dedicated the rest of his season to one of the shooting victims, Joaquin Oliver.

DeVos did not disclose much of what happened during the visit, except to tell reporters at a press conference afterward, "I told the student newspaper reporters that I would love to come back in an appropriate amount of time and just sit down and talk with them".

"Wade enjoyed his visit with the students as well, and even said on Twitter afterwards that he wants to be ". more involved in the change that they WILL create".

A video posted on Twitter shows Wade walking through the cafeteria as excited students can be heard screaming. "As someone out here in the public eye, I'm proud to say I'm from this state because of you guys, because of the future of this world because of you guys". Student survivors of the shooting have said they plan to participate in marches in Washington and cities around the country on March 24 to continue the conversation about gun violence issues.
