Seahawks to release Sherman

Free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman is scheduled to meet Saturday with San Francisco 49ers' officials, sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter. On Friday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan had dinner in Los Gatos with Sherman and his wife, The Athletic reported.

The Seahawks officially announced the move Friday and thanked Sherman in a statement that read: "Thank you for helping win championships, shape our culture and define success in Seattle". This will be an ongoing process and I am excited to take on this challenge. Sherman said he has received interest from the Tennessee Titans, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers. Sherman's free agency will be complex as he is coming off of a serious Achilles injury, and he'll turn 30 years old before the beginning of next season.

Although there's some belief that a deal could get done with the 49ers, there's also a chance that the two sides won't agree to anything and Sherman's free agency tour will continue.

Iraq Sentences Turkish ISIS Brides To Death By Hanging
Under Iraq's anti-terror law, anyone found guilty of joining IS can be handed the death penalty, including non-combatants. Thousands of foreigners fought in Syria and Iraq on the side of an "Islamic state" at least from 2014, reminds Reuters .

However, this isn't a done deal as Sherman is coming off of two surgeries on a torn Achilles tendon - which happened just in November - and it is now unknown what type of an asking price Sherman is presenting. And Schefter says it's possible that Sherman, who grew up in California, will stay in the area after his visit.

One of the most accomplished cornerbacks of his generation, Sherman made four Pro Bowls and was named a first-team All-Pro three times during his seven seasons with the Seahawks, who drafted him in the fifth round out of Stanford in 2011. Prior to the injury, the 5-time Pro Bowler had never missed a game.
