Civilization VI Launches for Free on iPad, but Costs $60 to Unlock

Sid Meier's Civilization VI has just been made available for the Apple iPad. The game needs iOS version 11 or newer, and should run well enough on an iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, or any of the iPad Pro variants. Players will be able to download and install the game at no cost, but they will only be able to play it up to 60 turns. Yes, you're still thinking about those missing features, features that you normally have on PC and have been since 2016 and the big updated expansion of the game. It is the base game only, without any downloadable content. Civilization 6's first expansion, Rise and Fall, is set to be released February 8, 2018, on Windows PC. If you're an existing fan of the franchise with compatible hardware, I know you've already purchased this so I won't waste my breath.

Civilization VI for iOS will regularly sell for $60, but to celebrate the launch, Aspyr is offering it for half price. The mobile port has been developed by Aspyr Media, the studio that has previously ported titles from series like Civilization, Borderlands, BioShock and others to macOS and Linux. However, the game's previous attempts at mobile ports are not exactly that great. From now until January 4, Civilization VI for iPad is on sale for $30. More than that, Civilization VI on iPad has multiplayer (but it's LAN only right now).
