Arkansas coach Chad Morris reportedly bringing several assistants from SMU

Arkansas has hired SMU's Chad Morris as the new football coach. He won consecutive state titles at Lake Travis and also was the head coach at Stephenville, Bay City, Elysian Fields and Eustace. He then spent four years as the offensive coordinator at Clemson, helping lay the foundation for the Tigers' national championship last season.

Morris replaces Bret Bielema at Arkansas.

This will be Morris' second head-coaching job.

According to multiple reports, Morris held a team meeting this morning with the Mustangs football team to tell them about his decision to come to the Natural State.

After a flurry of hires were made on Tuesday, news surfaced in the evening that Chad Morris will be leaving the SMU Mustangs to take over in Fayetteville.

Crowe, who had gone 5-15 at Livingston (now West Alabama), had a 9-15 record at Arkansas, including a loss to The Citadel in the 1992 season opener, the Razorbacks' first game as a member of the Southeastern Conference.

SMU went 1-11 the year before Morris was hired.

SMU went 7-5 in the 2017 regular season and finished eighth in the country while averaging 40.2 points per game and more than 300 yards passing per contest, ranked 16th in the nation.
