Mani remark rocks Kerala Assembly

Communist Party of India leader Prakash Babu had a Biblical take on the whole affair: "What I can say about Mani is to repeat what Jesus said - Forgive them, for they know not what they are doing". "We will be holding protests all across the 140 assembly constituencies and the UDF legislators will sit in protest in the capital city tomorrow", said Chennithala.

The Kerala Assembly witnessed pandemonium today morning as the Opposition staged protest inside the Assembly hall demanding the resignation of Minister M.M. Mani.

Responding to the opposition's call that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should visit Mahija, Mani said the opposition need not turn up with suggestions to this government.

While CPM cadres held a counter-rally in support of Mani in Munnar, unruly scenes were witnessed in the state Assembly in Thiruvananthapuram where Opposition legislators raised a black banner demanding the resignation of Mani.

"While all leading CPI-M and CPI leaders have strongly criticised the speech of Mani, Vijayan, who earlier said what Mani spoke was not right, is now defending Mani". Mani claims he is a villager, but he has used abusive words, which are not spoken by villagers.

Police showed texts allegedly sent from a 51-year-old trucker to an officer posing as a 16-year-old girl during the project. Truong says the average age of entry into the human trafficking sex trade is about 15 years old.

As mentioned above, Mani is the third of the LDF ministers who have landed in trouble for things they have said and done, and may soon join the ranks of Jayarajan and Saseendran before him, who have been forced to resign for their words and deeds.

Mani in his reply maintained that he had not used any offencive language against women.

"A section of the media is against me".

Mani said tendering a direct apology before the estate workers over his remarks wasn't needed as he had already expressed his regret over the matter. "There are just six women now sitting in protest of whom two are from the BJP and Congress and only four are from the Women's Collective", said Mani. Media has the entire video of my speech.

"It was a stage-managed protest led by vested interests". Opposition members trooped to the well of the House and said this was against precedent.
