Instagram will soon let users book haircuts, etc. through its app

The feature is a couple months away.

Instagram is looking to do more for advertisers than unveiling new filters, as the Facebook-owned service will soon allow users to use the picture sharing site to also book appointments with local businesses.

Users will have the ability to not just book a visit, but there will be options to call or email the business and a tab for directions.

Given Instagram has some eight million companies with business profiles on its app, it was arguably only a matter of time before Facebook cranked its subsidiary into action to find new ways to monetise its user base, beyond advertising which has grown five-fold over the past year.

Akhilesh and Shivpal have been at loggerheads in the family feud, and he too has opposed the alliance with the Congress. It was a major decrease since the previous assembly elections in 2012 where the party had won a massive 224 seats.

Advertisers will also see new data-related features coming in the future that offer insights into how users engage with multi-photo posts and even sponsored Instagram Stories.

And although these businesses may have thousands of followers, it doesn't mean they are raking in the revenue. James Quarles, Instagram's head of business, said the move should give advertisers a better understanding of how effective their ads actually are, since those ads will now be able to translate more directly into business. Advertising on Instagram can be quite fruitful for these firms, especially since as many as 400 million people are using the app every day.

Before and after pictures of hair, makeup and other services are popular on Instagram but it's hard for businesses to determine what the impact of such posts actually is.
